The Fidelio is a very good quality violin made by one of the best workshops in China. The front is of well seasoned Spruce and the back is one piece of nicely flamed Maple. The ribs, neck & scroll are of similar wood.
The fingerboard is of A grade Ebony and the pegs, chinrest, tailpiece and end button are of good quality and well finished boxwood.
The varnish has a very attractive slightly chestnut coloured semi-matt finish and the result is a very handsome violin.
We have fitted a set of Pirastro Tonica strings and an Aubert bridge. The violin now plays extremely well. Very well balanced from string to string with a lovely resonant G string a warm D string a very clear A and a bright, but not harsh E string.
Unusually for an instrument of this price the bow is of Pernambuco with an Ebony frog inlaid with a Paris Eye with a mother of pearl centre. It's a very well balanced bow, quite light and a pleasure to play with. This bow alone would normally sell for around £200.00.
We have supplied a Gustave Bernadel rosin (well it is a good violin) and an oblong case with a light brown exterior and a deep blue interior. There is an external zipped pocket for music and internal pockets to hold spare strings, a rosin and a shoulder rest. It also comes with detachable straps so that the case can be carried on the back like a knapsack.
A good quality violin that will only get better the more it is played. Ideal for a student moving to grade 5 and above.
Customer Comments: I've just come back from from an introductory lesson with a violin teacher who still plays in a symphony orchestra and after thoroughly checking it out, he was very impressed and when he played it - so was I !!
