The use of a shoulder rest is encouraged by most teachers today. It provides valuable support for the violin under the chin and reduces damage to the neck. It can also transform a young players posture, improve control of the instrument and is highly recommended. We always carry a selection in stock. The cheapest by FOM will just about do the job but we recommend the Kun or one of it's oriental copies as a better option.

Certainly a really nicely made Shoulder Rest and when we tried it we all agreed it was very comfortable. Nice thick layer of sponge over a cleverly moulded slightly flexible plastic base. It has good big grippers and really sticks to the violin, you are unlikely to drop this one in the middle of the orchestra. Suitable for 1/4 - 1/10 Size Violins
